ST Thomas School of Nursing
Jyothi Hospital is charitable Catholic Mission hospital which provides health care services to the sub-urban
population residing in and around Kururda, Balasore, Odisha. It is a minority Christian Institution owned and
managed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Balasore. Jyothi Hospital has been rendering comprehensive health
care services since 1999. It is committed to look after the poor and the sick irrespective of case,
creed and colour after the model of Jesus Christ.
St. Thomas School of Nursing is built in the campus of Jyothi Hospital
in the year 2008 to continue the healing mission of Jesus. ST. Thomas School of Nursing owned and managed by the Roman
Catholic Diocese of Balasore, which is a minority Institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and Odisha Nursing Council.
The General Nursing and Midwifery course (G.N.M) is 3 years training programme.
All aspects of General Nursing and midwifery are taught in this course. Most of the teaching and training is imparted in the school of nursing,
in Jyothi Hospital and in other nearby hospitals, if needed, to gain more practical knowledge and experience. The students will be permitted to
sit for the board Examination according to the rules and procedure of the Mid India Board of Education (MIBE). On successful completion of
3 years of Study, the students are eligible to reserve the Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. This diploma will be awarded by
Midwifery Board of Education of the Nurse’s League of Christian medical Association of India (CMAI) and registered under Odisha Nursing Council.
The Diploma awarded is registrable by any State Council in India as recognised by the Indian Nursing Council.
